Mange Your Cravings in ONE Step 🤩
Without making food the enemy...!
You know that feeling you get when cravings hit?
Where you can’t focus on anything else but the thought of that chocolate, the salty taste of those chips, the satisfaction of biting into that doughnut…
I can taste it now! 🤤
When cravings hit - it can be hard.
Really hard.
Straight out of no where it slaps you in the face and all of a sudden you have the urge to raid the cupboards.

There are several reasons what cravings creep up on us.
It could be as a result of stress.
It could be that your period has hit and your hormones are all over the place.
It could be the fact you have restricted throughout the day and as a result you have crazy hunger levels.
It could be a hormonal imbalance.
It’s almost impossible to say without knowing you personally and talking through your day to day habits 🤷🏽‍♀️
What I will say is that you are not on your own, and its okay to feel like this.
But we should do is talk about what we can do to help when this hits…
A technique we use here at AKGFIT when looking at cravings and sudden pangs of hunger is Pattern Interrupt đź’š
From studying eating disorders and disordered eating for several years I’ve come up with the idea that if you remove yourself from the current environment and context you are in you are less likely to repeat the action.
So, when a craving hits, I ask my girls to do this…
Set a timer for 15 minutes ⏳
Change where you are and what you’re doing - if you’re at home in the kitchen, move to the bedroom and read 10 pages of your book 📚
If you are somewhere that you have the option to leave, head out for a 10 minute walk 🚶🏼‍♂️
9/10 times, this removes that feeling and those cravings 🤩
And if it doesn't, it means we need to look else where and dive into some deeper work.
Most of the time those cravings are not actual hunger cues, and are a combination of the reasons above and boredom/unfulfilment.
So see if making a change helps you redirect your thoughts and focus on something else - and if it doesn’t, and you’re genuinely hungry, honour your body with what it’s asking for 💚
